Brand New Jewels And Trendy Apparels

Foxes and Flowers

Video distraction whilst Im at home watching paint dry (no euphemism by the way – the busted door needs to be painted)? Mulberry continues to pump out engaging video shorts that arent just bore-off models faffing about to achingly cool soundtrack with clothes possibly obscred. Their latest offering is the A/W 11-12 campaign shot by Tim Walker and animated by House and Holme, Luke Losey and Framestore to combine 2D cut-out animations with a live 3D environment which bring Walkers photos and Shona Heaths sets to life. Foxes, birds and flowers blink and bloom in amongst Tatiana Cotliar and Julia Sanar and sums up A/W 11-12s English countryside jaunt in a decidedly playful way. Okay, Miike Snows track is a bit overplayed but it does thump at all the right frames…

Their previous 40th Birthday animation is even more of a treat. Not exactly right for every brand but 100% fitting for Mulberry to inject their universe into perfectly scrawled animation, illustrated by Joshua Gurrie and directed by Bill Stepanoski. Illustrating their history, the heritage of Mulberry, their beginnings in Somerset, their collaborations with people like Giles Deacon and Julie Verhoeven, the bands theyve hosted, the success of the Alexa, the video ends with a lovely sentiment…

“We believe you can be too rich, too thin but never too happy…We believe in being yourself…. We believe in fairy tales…”

Of course, along the way, they want you to believe that happiness encompasses a Mulberry bag or two but hey Vimeo-viewing is for free and this one is certainly a lot more palatable than the rest.
