OK, full disclosure here – the chica who made these fabulous shoes is my co-worker. Her name is Lauren and she is a product developer by day, but she can also throw down when it comes to serious crafting. She took a set of fabric markers and dimensional paint and went to town on this pair of suede heels. Can you say gorgeous? I had to share them, if anything to inspire you to use new eyes when shopping. Everything is a canvas for self-expression!

Zuii Organic has a bevy of eye shadow options for anyone needing a boost of color to their same old make-up routine.
Their entire line is certified organic by the USDA, as well as the Organic Food Chain in Australia, where the cosmetic brand is based, and thanks to Bella Floria, I tried out their blush and eye shadow, which are now two trusty cosmetic items I use on a weekly basis.

This weekend, I finally was able to catch up on a bunch of stuff around my apartment that I really havent had time to do due to my new extended work schedule and other events that warm weather and summer bring.
However, this weekend, my slate was clean and I decided to match my apartment to my slate. Ive been cleaning, moving around furniture and organizing like a mad woman these past two days and now that Im pretty much caught up, I feel like I should reward myself with something aside from these cookies and milk that Im nibbling on as I write this.

I saw these wedges on Steve Maddens website and I feel like they are fun and casual enough to be a contender everyday this summer.

Admittedly the title of this post belongs in Woman magazine or the like. I frankly dont care though because the sun is finally shining, Im taking my suitcase (Ill be the Only Girl on the Campsite with a Minicase – people will point and laugh) down to Port Eliot today for three days of FORESTS, RIVERS and WORDS. Oh, and a bit of fash-actioncourtesy of the British Fashion Council. Therefore its FUN Friday and this is the height of intelligence youll get from me.
Of course “Fab” isnt the only word to describe Nicholas Kirkwoods burgeoning group of flats. Ever since S/S 10, hes worked in a butterfly sandal and a brogue, both of which I own, that do more than just fill a practical gap for flats.

Wearing high heels can be a pain, yes, but we modern shoe wearers have little to complain about compared to say an aristocratic Venetian woman in the sixteenth century. While mainstream heel designs of the twenty-first century usually stay within reasonable heights and designs, there are some recent examples of our continuing fascination with the towering female figure and some intriguing but, quite frankly, bizarre silhouettes.
Popular in the sixteenth century among the upper echelons of Venetian society, the chopine was the wealthy woman’s choice accessory, elevating her anywhere from five to nine inches above her followers.

This sixteenth century pair from Venice measures around three feet: proof of what can be done for attention. Imagine walking with chopines strapped to your slippers. Must have been like walking on stilts, an effect achieved by Nina Ricci with her 2009 designs.

Men in fourteenth century Europe followed some interesting footwear trends such as the pointed poulaine.

Pointy-toed shoes continue on to this day, although to less dramatic lengths.

In his 1616 portrait attributed to William Larkin, George Villiers, the first Duke of Buckingham, is portrayed wearing some pretty fancy shoes…

Up until the French Revolution, buckles were one of the many indicators of wealth.

Eighteenth century shoes featured embellished buckles, becoming intrinsically linked to the increasingly unpopular French monarchy.

While we’ve ditched the three feet high chopines, modern footwear is by no means drably utilitarian. Here are some amazing examples of recent footwear spotted on the runway.
